First-party comparison
Lumair vs. Infuse and 4XVR on Vision Pro: Officially Listed Features
A dated, first-party comparison of the features Lumair, Infuse, and 4XVR currently list for Apple Vision Pro.
Disclosure: Lumair publishes this comparison. It is first-party Lumair editorial content based only on the official App Store pages and product documentation linked below. It does not use reviews, benchmarks, user reports, or claims about which app is better.
This page compares the features each product currently lists for Apple Vision Pro. It does not infer support from a file extension, a codec name, a container, or another product's capability. A file can require a particular video profile, audio track, subtitle format, network path, and visionOS playback path.
Apple Vision Pro supports playback through its system media capabilities and the Files app can open and organize files stored in available locations. Apple documents the device specifications, file handling, and video playback behavior in its Vision Pro documentation. Apple Vision Pro technical specifications, Files on Apple Vision Pro, and playing shows and movies describe those platform features.

Lumair's Documented Scope on Vision Pro
Lumair opens compatible local video files through Files, connects directly to SMB, and can connect to a user's Jellyfin server. It does not include media. Users remain responsible for ensuring they have the rights to access, store, and play their files.
Lumair is not affiliated with Jellyfin. Jellyfin is a separate media-server project. Its documentation explains that playback results depend on the client, the media container, video and audio codecs, subtitles, and server configuration. Jellyfin's codec support documentation and transcoding documentation describe these server-side considerations.
Lumair can browse, stream, and download compatible video directly from SMB servers on the local network. It does not claim NFS, DLNA, WebDAV, Plex, or Emby support. NFS, DLNA, WebDAV, Plex, and Emby remain separate unsupported workflows.
H.264 MVC MKV Playback in Lumair
Lumair supports compatible H.264 MVC video in MKV files through an on-device conversion process. It decodes the MVC video and converts it to stereo MV-HEVC for the visionOS system player.
This is not direct MVC playback. It is not no-conversion MVC playback. Lumair prepares compatible MVC content for the system player after decoding the MVC source.
Apple documents conversion from side-by-side 3D video to multiview HEVC and spatial video in its AVFoundation documentation. That documentation describes the platform format path behind stereo MV-HEVC playback. Apple's AVFoundation conversion documentation provides the relevant technical background.
Compatibility depends on the complete source file. A file with an `.mkv` extension or an H.264 label does not guarantee playback. The MVC stream, file structure, video profile, audio tracks, subtitles, available storage, and system playback compatibility can all affect the result.
Native Playback and HEVC MKV Preparation
Compatible MP4, MOV, and M4V files that AVFoundation handles use native playback in Lumair.
For compatible HEVC MKV files, Lumair remuxes the file while preserving the original HEVC base video. Lumair may prepare Dolby Vision when it is safe to do so. When that path is not safe, Lumair uses the source HDR10 base layer.
This behavior does not promise playback for every HEVC profile, Dolby Vision profile, MKV file, or HDR source. File size, bitrate, codec name, container, and extension alone do not establish compatibility.
Apple's playback and media-format support also depends on the device and operating system. Apple's HLS authoring specification for Apple devices describes supported media requirements for its streaming stack, though it does not guarantee that a particular local file or third-party server file will play in an app.
Lumair and Jellyfin Downloads
Lumair can connect to a user's Jellyfin server. When a user downloads a title through Lumair, the app saves the selected original source file unchanged to app-managed storage.
Embedded tracks remain in the downloaded file. This includes tracks that are embedded in the selected source, subject to the source file itself. Separate external subtitle files are not bundled into the downloaded file.
Users should test a downloaded file before travel. A successful server connection does not prove that every downloaded title will play offline. Test the specific downloaded file, selected audio track, embedded subtitles, and video path before relying on it away from the server.
Apple's Travel Mode documentation covers using Apple Vision Pro during travel. Travel Mode does not replace testing a downloaded media file in advance.
Infuse: Officially Listed Scope
Infuse's Apple Vision Pro App Store listing describes broad support for local files, network locations, cloud drives, and media servers. Its listed server and network scope includes Jellyfin, Plex, Emby, computers, NAS devices, and Wi-Fi storage.
The listing also describes broad video, audio, subtitle, HDR, and streaming format support. It presents Infuse as a player for media stored locally, on a network, in cloud storage, or on supported servers.
Infuse lists an optional Infuse Pro subscription. This article does not compare subscription amounts, storefront prices, promotions, or feature tiers because those details can change by storefront and over time.
The Infuse Vision Pro listing does not claim H.264 MVC 3D support. This comparison makes no claim that Infuse can decode H.264 MVC from Blu-ray 3D MKV files, ISO images, SSIF files, or other MVC sources. It also makes no claim about whether another format conversion workflow may work with Infuse.
Read the current Infuse Apple Vision Pro App Store listing for its current supported-format and subscription language.
4XVR: Officially Listed Scope
4XVR's App Store listing describes local and network video playback on Apple Vision Pro. It lists support for network protocols and services including DLNA, SMB, WebDAV/WebDAVS, Plex, Emby, and Jellyfin.
Its listing also claims MVC 3D decoding for Blu-ray 3D ISO, SSIF, MKV, M2TS, TS, and MTS files. The same listing names MV-HEVC, MVC, H.264, H.265, HDR, Dolby Vision profiles, subtitles, and 5.1/7.1 spatial audio among its stated features.
Those are 4XVR's listed claims. They do not establish how every title, profile, subtitle file, audio track, network environment, or disc-image structure will behave. They also do not establish the same behavior in Lumair or Infuse.
4XVR's FAQ provides further vendor documentation about its product scope and supported workflows. See the 4XVR FAQ and the 4XVR Apple Vision Pro App Store listing.
Choosing Based on the Listed Features
Choose based on the access method and file type you use.
Lumair's documented scope fits users who want to open compatible local files through Files, connect directly to SMB, or connect to a Jellyfin server. It plays compatible decrypted 2D and 3D Blu-ray ISO disc images, and its MVC path decodes compatible H.264 MVC video in MKV or MK3D on the device for the visionOS system player. It does not open BDMV folders, connect to Plex or Emby, rip discs, or bypass DRM.
Infuse's listing covers broad local, network, cloud, and server access. Its official Vision Pro listing does not claim H.264 MVC 3D support, so this page does not treat MVC playback as an Infuse feature.
4XVR's listing explicitly claims MVC 3D decoding for several file and disc-image formats, including ISO, SSIF, MKV, M2TS, TS, and MTS. It also lists direct network protocols and several media-server connections.
No listing language can guarantee a particular file. Test the title you intend to watch, with its intended audio and subtitle tracks, before depending on a playback path.
Lumair Price and Playback Model in the US Storefront
Lumair's current US App Store model includes a 5-minute per-video playback preview. The preview allows users to test playback before unlocking Full Playback.
Lumair offers a $14.99 US one-time Full Playback purchase. App Store pricing can vary by storefront.
The preview applies to each video. It is intended for testing whether Lumair works with a user's compatible files, SMB server, and Jellyfin setup. It does not establish that every file, profile, subtitle track, HDR path, or server configuration will work.
