Before You Write

Please include:

• Your Apple Vision Pro visionOS version and Lumair version. Lumair 1.3.2 requires visionOS 26.5 or later.
• Whether the problem occurs with a local file, SMB, or Jellyfin.
• The container, video codec, stereo layout, and HDR format when known.
• What you expected, what happened, and reproducible steps.

Do not send passwords, access tokens, private server URLs, copyrighted media files, or screenshots that expose personal information.

Common Questions

What does Lumair cost?

Lumair is free to download and includes 5 minutes of playback for every video, not a shared pool across titles. Full Playback is a one-time $14.99 purchase. It is not a subscription. The app requires visionOS 26.5 or later.

What counts toward the free preview?

Only actual video playback uses preview time. Browsing, pausing, seeking, and buffering do not. Every video carries its own preview allowance, for local, SMB, and Jellyfin playback alike.

How do I purchase or restore Full Playback?

Open Settings in Lumair to purchase Full Playback or restore a previous purchase through Apple. A successful unlock removes the playback limit for local, SMB, and Jellyfin media.

Does Lumair include movies or television shows?

No. Lumair plays media you provide. You are responsible for having the rights to access and play that media.

Do I need Jellyfin?

No. You can open compatible local files through the system Files picker or connect directly to an SMB server on your local network. Jellyfin is optional and adds library browsing, progress sync, streaming, and downloads from a server you control.

How do I connect to an SMB server?

Open SMB in Lumair, select a discovered server or enter its address, then sign in and choose a share. Lumair can browse, stream, and download compatible video from SMB. Availability depends on your local network and server configuration.

Why will a file not play in 3D?

The source must contain a supported stereoscopic layout. Lumair plays compatible H.264 MVC MKV and MK3D files, decrypted 3D Blu-ray ISO disc images, and supported side-by-side or over-under MKV, MP4, and MOV video in spatial 3D. Compatible MV-HEVC files play directly.

Can side-by-side and over-under 3D play in HDR?

Lumair 1.3.2 plays compatible 10-bit HDR side-by-side and over-under 3D in HDR, including 4K at 60 fps. The result still depends on the container, codec, stereo layout, HDR metadata, Apple Vision Pro, and visionOS, so test the exact file with the included preview.

Does Lumair support FLAC audio?

Lumair 1.3.2 can play compatible FLAC audio tracks. Audio availability still depends on the media and playback path, so test the track you intend to use.

Why does the player window change shape?

Lumair hides stable encoded letterbox bars by default when it can detect them reliably. Turn off Hide encoded letterbox bars in Settings to preserve the encoded frame.

Which SRT subtitles are supported?

Lumair can show compatible embedded SRT tracks. For SMB video opened through Lumair's processing path, it can also load nearby sidecar SRT files. This includes compatible MKV, MK3D, WebM, ISO, and recognized SBS or OU video using spatial conversion. Plain MP4, MOV, and M4V native playback does not load sidecar files. Name a sidecar after its video, such as Movie.en.srt next to Movie.mkv. Files picked through the system Files picker do not grant Lumair access to sibling sidecar files.

Where are offline downloads stored?

Downloads are stored in the app-managed area on your device. Jellyfin downloads remain associated with the account that created them. SMB downloads retain the source information needed for retry and playback.

How does HDR10 and Dolby Vision playback work?

For compatible HEVC MKV media, Lumair remuxes the original base video instead of re-encoding it. Compatible Dolby Vision metadata is prepared on device for the visionOS system player. Lumair 1.3.2 also supports compatible Dolby Vision Profile 5 remuxes without in-container parameter sets. If conversion or output signaling cannot be completed safely, playback automatically uses the source's HDR10 base layer instead.

Dolby Vision availability depends on the source profile, valid metadata, Apple Vision Pro, and visionOS. An HDR10 fallback does not mean the base video was transcoded.

Is Lumair affiliated with Jellyfin?

No. Lumair is an independent client and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Jellyfin project.
